PAINTINGS

2017

I recently heard about what is happening with the wild horses situation in New Mexico, particularly in Lincoln County. It is an all too familiar story, I reside in Idaho on the Wyoming border right outside the Yellowstone National Park border. Every fall they slaughter up to 500 wild Bison "to keep them from wandering outside the park boundaries and contaminating cows with diseases" I decided to try to use my talents to raise money for a good causes. I have been corresponding with Robbie Davis who oversees the fund to bring Ruidoso's and Lincoln County's wild horses back to their natural habitat. I created this painting using a photo taken of your wild horses. Im selling a limited edition of 100 prints. The giclee prints will be 12x24 and sell for $150. The original painting is on display in a gallery in Jackson Hole WY selling for $10,000. I created this piece by naturally dying the fabric using, onion skins, black beans, rust and turmeric, I then hand sewed pieces of gessoed canvas and then I painted the essence of these beautiful creatures in oil paint across the entire surface. You can email me at walters.michele@yahoo.com to order a print or with any questions you may have. My goal is to raise $10,000 to support bring your wild horses home!
